New Melton Hospital

The proposed Melton Hospital is a vital initiative aimed at supporting the rapidly growing community in Melbourne’s outer west. This new facility is expected to provide comprehensive, lifelong healthcare services, easing the burden on surrounding hospitals and expanding healthcare access in the region.

With the Victorian Government investing $2.4 million in the planning phase, the project is firstly to complete a business case that will determine the hospital’s location, size, and range of services. Managed by Western Health, the new hospital is anticipated to include a full suite of services, such as a 24-hour emergency department, cardiac and intensive care units, acute surgical facilities, and diagnostic services.

OUR ROLE

As the Principal Consultant for this transformative project, Ontoit is leading a multidisciplinary team that includes architects, structural, civil, and traffic engineers, building surveyors, and clinical service planners. Our role is to deliver a future-ready masterplan and feasibility study that will inform the business case. This process involves developing a new model of care, creating a strategic functional design brief, and conducting a detailed review of the hospital’s functional and inter-departmental operational relationships.

By guiding this project from its conceptual stages, we are not only helping to shape a critical healthcare facility but also ensuring that it is designed to serve future generations with the highest standards of care.

OUTCOMES

Through our involvement in the Melton Hospital project, Ontoit has deepened its understanding of hospital operations and explored innovations in healthcare, such as automated pathology, pharmacy systems, AGVs, and telehealth services. These insights have been integrated into the project to create a facility that is both innovative and responsive to the needs of the community. As the project moves towards the construction phase, our contributions will ensure that the new hospital is well-positioned to provide essential health services and support the overall well-being of Melbourne’s outer western suburbs.
