Maryborough Hospital Redevelopment
The Maryborough and District Hospital redevelopment comprises a mix of new building and refurbishment works including construction of a new multi-storey building to the south of the existing hospital.
Maryborough Hospital has been operating for more than 150 years. The facility provides acute beds, an Urgent Care Centre, Diagnostic Services and Community Services with Allied Health and Community Health. The hospital serves the catchment and local community which have been characterised by high levels of socio-economic disadvantage and low levels of community and health engagement. The population is ageing and has a significantly larger portion of the community in the 59-to-75-year age group than the
Victorian average.
The works are split into two separate early and main works packages. Ontoit worked closely with VHBA and MDHS to define the packages of works. The staging process considered impacts to hospital operations, best value for money, onsite safety risks and programming. The early works package consists of demolition, services diversions and enhancements, civil works, and dental fit. The main works is to construct a new three storey building on the southwest corner of the site: consolidating the numerous
health services. The new build will improve patient and employee safety, privacy and mitigate infection risk as well as improving wayfinding and creating greater overall efficiencies.
Ontoit is providing Project Management services through numerous phases, including Feasibility Study Review, Schematic Design, Design Development, Contract Documentation, Contract Administration and Defects Liability Period.
