Sydney Metro

Sydney Metro is Australia’s largest urban rail infrastructure investment, which will revolutionise the way people move around Sydney and significantly slash travel times. The program comprises four separate projects: Northwest, City and Southwest, West, and Western Sydney Airport line.

With Northwest completed in 2019, and City and Southwest due for completion in 2024, an increase in capacity by more than 60% across the network is anticipated. The Metro line to Western Sydney Airport due for completion in 2026 and the Metro West line connecting the Sydney CBD to Parramatta due for completion in 2030, will further increase network capacity.

Since commencement of operation of the Northwest line in 2019, linking Tallawong to Chatswood, Sydney is the only city in Australia to operate a fully automated rapid transit metro system.

Ontoit’s people have had specialist roles with Sydney Metro since its inception in 2011.  In addition, specialist PMO services have been provided across Northwest, City and South West, West and Western Sydney Airport, including key enabling works relating to the relocation of the Sydney Speedway currently impacting the Metro West Maintenance Facility site.
