Latrobe Regional Hospital Redevelopment

The Latrobe Regional Hospital Stage 3A Expansion is set to deliver state-of-the-art facilities to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Gippsland community.

This expansion will include a new maternity ward, additional operating theatres, and an enhanced emergency department, all aimed at addressing the projected increase in demand for inpatient, surgical, and maternity services. The project involves new construction on existing cleared land as well as the fit-out of shell spaces built during a previous stage, encompassing critical areas such as the emergency department, operating suite, inpatient unit, maternity, medical imaging, and support services.

OUR ROLE

Ontoit’s purpose in the Latrobe Regional Hospital Stage 3A project is to ensure seamless delivery of the expansion through expert procurement and superintendent services, from design development to defects liability. Close collaboration with the design team and external advisors, including buildability and traffic consultants, has been key in managing risk and ensuring the coordination of contract documentation. Our role also includes a detailed review of interface requirements, management of the RISC process, and the development of a project-specific contract administration manual.

This approach aligns closely with the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) Project Managers, ensuring that the works are executed effectively under the approved lump sum procurement method.

OUTCOMES

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 environment, Ontoit has effectively managed the project, ensuring that quality and stakeholder communication remain uncompromised. The project delivered the expanded facilities needed to meet the growing demands of the Gippsland community, reinforcing the Latrobe Regional Hospital’s ability to provide high-quality healthcare services now and into the future.
