As part of Victoria’s largest social and affordable housing initiative, the new Bills Street development in Hawthorn is playing a critical role in addressing the state’s housing crisis. The project has delivered over 200 new homes, including a 98% increase in social housing, providing safe, sustainable, and modern housing options for residents. The new development replaces outdated units with 103 social and 103 affordable dwellings, offering green spaces, community facilities, and increased access to essential services.
Premier Jacinta Allan and Minister for Housing Harriet Shing visited the completed project, meeting with residents and seeing firsthand the positive impact it’s making in the local community. Located near Kooyong Station and surrounded by parks and schools, the new homes offer families a fresh start in a well-connected and thriving suburb.
