University of Canberra, Integrated Sports Hub

This project was envisioned to provide ongoing facilities and benefits, not only for University students and staff, but also for the broader Canberra community.

The plan incorporated high-quality indoor multi-purpose courts for sporting activities, along with a 3,500-capacity show court and event space. These facilities were designed to serve a diverse range of educational and sporting outcomes, catering to high-performance sporting teams, athletes, and community participants alike.

OUR ROLE

Recognising the complexity and scale of the project, the University of Canberra sought expert advice and assistance to bring their vision to life. They chose to work with Ontoit due to our extensive experience in leading similar large-scale projects. Our role involved guiding the development of the business case, engaging with key stakeholders, managing sub-consultants, completing the facility design, and overseeing cost planning and options analysis. We ensured that every aspect of the business case was meticulously aligned with ACT and Commonwealth government guidelines.

OUTCOMES

The successful completion of this project resulted in a robust business case that secured the necessary funding to move forward. The newly developed facilities not only met the university’s needs but also provided valuable resources for the Canberra community. The integrated nature of the project has enabled a wide array of educational and sporting opportunities, fostering a strong sense of community and promoting active, healthy lifestyles among all participants.
